I received this in my e-mail today from another wonderful company that has worked with FOHA before – it’s distressing to hear this kind of news considering that animals are so near and dear to not only my heart, but many of yours as well.  So many animals are in need of this kind of place, so whatever we can do to help – let’s do it!   You can also go HERE to their website and donate online!

Dear FOHA Friends,

This is a special appeal to those supporters who have been so devoted and generous to FOHA over the years. As you all know, the economy is not good and it has taken a toll on charitable giving, and we have felt the effects in the form of reduced donations coupled with increased costs. On top of that, we are currently dealing with the Canine Influenza that has affected several states in our part of the country. Canine Influenza, commonly known as Dog Flu, is a highly contagious, though seldom fatal, virus that spreads like wildfire through any exposed canine population.

As you may be aware, FOHA has been closed for the past few weeks while we work to treat the very large percentage of our population that are showing symptoms of the virus. Fortunately, our shelter has suffered no fatalities, but many of our dogs have had to be hospitalized in serious condition and the medical bills we are facing are staggering. If you know FOHA, you know that we are an organization committed to giving the very best medical care to all of our dogs and cats. When this crisis is over, we want to be able to continue answering the calls for the next ones in need, calls that come in daily seeking our help in rescuing abused or abandoned animals. The only way we can do that is with your help and donations.

We know these are hard times for everyone, but we are asking for any additional help you can give us at this time. You’d be amazed at how much even the smallest donation will do for our dogs and cats. We need your help. Those of you who have opened your hearts and homes to an animal know how important this work is. We ask you to please send what you can to:

FOHA, Inc.

P.O. Box 2575

Merrifield, VA 22116-2575

Your kindness, love, and generosity for animals in need has gotten us this far. We so appreciate that we can count on you once again. We send this with our heartfelt thanks, on behalf of the homeless dogs and cats.
